Ashraful Ban Reduce To 5 Years

Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful has
had his eight-year ban for involvement in corruption reduced
to a five-year penalty, with two years suspended, by the
BCB's disciplinary panel chairman. Ashraful had appealed to
the disciplinary panel chief, Justice Mohammad Abdur
Rashid, in July, asking that the ban he received a month
earlier, for his involvement in match and spot-fixing in the
2013 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, be reduced.
The five-year ban is dated from August 13, 2013. The last
two years are suspended subject to his participation in a
BCB or ICC anti-corruption education and training
programme.
"Upon production of a certificate of good conduct from ICC",
a BCB release said, he will be eligible to return to cricket "on
or about August 13, 2016".

'Hurt' Younis challenges PCB to build team without him

Younis Khan, the Pakistani batsman, has lashed out at the
PCB and selectors for dropping him for the one-day series
against Australia and saying he is also "out of contention"
for the World Cup. He challenged the selectors to build a
team without him in the mix and said he will remain
sidelined until the 2015 World Cup but will not retire.

"Don't select me, not even in Tests. I sacrifice my future,"
Younis, 36, said on the sidelines of the ongoing domestic
T20 tournament in Karachi. "I am saying a simple thing, if
they are saying that youngsters are future of ODIs, then
where is the future of Pakistan in Test cricket? Don't select
me in Test matches and make [the youngsters] the future
of Pakistan in Test cricket too. But what will happen if they
can't make a team for ODIs and Test matches after five
months, will they again do recalling?

"I won't die and I won't be 70-year-old in four-five months,if
they don't let me play with dignity then so be it. They have
hurt me, they have hurt me when they said that players like
me have no future. Then who has a future? So a player like
me should shoot himself? When they are 35, 36, players like
me wake up at seven 'o' clock, show commitment, I can do
only this. Instead shoot ourselves, don't play cricket at all,
don't play domestic cricket at all? I will wait for 4-5 months.
They are saying that I don't have a future, I will wait, I am
not retiring, I will wait, may this team go ahead, if they make
the team [strong] I won't come back."

Younis was recalled into the ODI squad for the Sri Lanka
tour in August, after a year and a half. But he had to leave
the tour midway, to return to Karachi, because of the death
of his nephew. In his only ODI in the series, he scored 3
off 7.
While announcing the squad for the Australia series,
Pakistan's chief selector Moin Khan said the decision to
select Younis for the Sri Lanka series had "backfired".

charge emanates, has also been charged with one count of
perverting the course of Justice.
In a separate development, lawyers representing Modi have
begun civil proceedings against Cairns to recover £90,000
paid in damages and costs following the libel case in 2012.

Pakistan's T20 and ODI Squad Announced

Marlon Sameuls, Dwayne Smith and Jerome Taylor back to ODI squad

West Indies have recalled a trio of experienced players -

batsmen Marlon Samuels and Dwayne Smith, and fast

bowler Jerome Taylor - for the ODI's in India next

month. Guyana batsman Leon Johnson, who made his Test

debut earlier this month against Bangladesh, has also been

called up. Chris Gayle will miss the series as he is still

rehabilitating from injury. Others missing out are batsman

Kirk Edwards and left-arm spinner Nikita Miller.

Samuels and Smith last played in the ODI series against
England in March as well as the ICC World T20 in
Bangladesh while Taylor has not played an ODI since 2010,
but his call-up follows a recent return to international cricket
with the Test squad.
The West Indies play five ODIs in India between 8th and
20th October, beginning their tour with a brace of games
against India in Mumbai.
Samuels and Smith return after having missed out on the
limited-overs legs of the home series against New Zealand and Bangladesh this year. Taylor is back after a more lengthy absence, having last played an ODI in 2010.

Mike Hesson has dismissed the idea of Kane Williamson bowling left-handed

Mike Hesson, the New Zealand coach, has dismissed the
idea of Kane Williamson bowling left-handed at the highest
level. Williamson, who has been banned from bowling in
international cricket after his right-arm offspin action was
deemed illegal by the ICC, had said in a radio interview that
he might explore the option of bowling with his left-arm.
"You know, I'll certainly be trying as much as I can,"
Williamson had said. "Whether that's trying to do it with the
other arm, that would be an interesting process but I'll
certainly be giving it a crack."
Williamson is ambidextrous, Hesson said, but added it would
be a stretch for him to raise his left-arm bowling up to
international standard.

Waqar worried about Australia series    prep

Pakistan coach Waqar Younis and captain Misbah-ul-Haq are

not happy with the delay in announcing the squads that will

take on Australia next month in the UAE. The captain and

coach had apparently suggested that a 10-day training camp

be organised before the team's departure for the tour that

begins on October 5 with a Twenty20, followed by three

ODIs and two Tests. Instead, the PCB has remained focused

on organizing the ongoing 18-team national Twenty20

competition.
